As more and more 2020 weddings continue to be postponed due to the global pandemic of COVID-19, Contemporary Weddings Magazine foresees a reemerging trend for the near future: Weekday weddings! It goes without saying that as couples reschedule their events, it’s going to be much harder to snag a weekend date. Most venues are already booked solid for weekend weddings (some even well into 2021), however that doesn’t mean your special day won’t be just as memorable on a weekday. A weekday wedding just might be your only option as we move forward to a new normal, but we’re totally here for it and here’s why.
1. Don’t be afraid to choose a weekday. We already touched upon this above, but as banquet facilities continue to reschedule, it’s likely weekend dates are going to be already reserved. Keep an open mind to other days of the week as backup date options. Guests have been following the stay at home order for so long, it’s likely they’ll be more than excited to get together with family and friends to celebrate (once it’s safe to do so, of course), regardless of the day of the week.
2. Weekday weddings offer more flexibility. This is especially true if you want to get married on the day you started dating, on a meaningful holiday, or perhaps on one of your parents or grandparents anniversaries. The sky is the limit when you keep an open mind.
3. You can have your wedding sooner. If you want to get married sooner, rather than later, weekday weddings offer you more flexibility in rescheduling for late 2020 and even early 2021.
4. You’re more likely to secure most if not ALL of your original wedding vendors. Officiants, photographers, videographers, DJ’s, bands, planners, and hair and makeup (just to name a few) are booked months to years in advance. Couples will find it much easier to secure all of their favorite vendors–they previously hired–if they choose to reschedule on a weekday date.
5. You can add extra activities! For example, if you choose to get married on a Monday, you can host a welcome party on Saturday and another group activity on Sunday or if you get married on a Thursday, you can keep the party going through the weekend with fun events, such as, a post wedding brunch or barbecue, a group tour (trolley bike, pub crawl, or even a booze cruise.) Think of it as a mini-vacation for guests! Your planned activities will encourage loved ones to explore the area and gather together to celebrate you and your significant other.
Remember, WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. Vendors want to do the right thing to ensure couples can celebrate happily and safely. No one anticipated the effects of the government mandated shutdowns, but with flexibility in rescheduling, we will all move past this crisis together. Still have questions? Get in touch via email! We’re more than happy to help any way we can during these unforeseen times.
