Winter weddings are very much underrated, but this classic soiree at Clarks Landing Yacht Club is sure to inspire! It’s a day filled to the brim with a neutral color palette, lots of sparkle, greenery, and of course, romance. In other words, it goes to show that New Jersey weddings during the chillier season can be just as beautiful as the prime months! Take a glance at all the pretty captured through the lens of Hey Photography.
From Heyn Photography…Brittany and Dave’s classic Clarks Landing wedding was truly an elegant affair! We started with the bride and groom separately as they got ready. The special day’s colors were classic shades of gold. From the invitations to the bridal party robes to dresses, everything had a lovely shimmer to it. Brittany’s mom and sisters helped her get into her beautiful gown and veil. Then we headed over to the couple’s home parish of Saint Leo Great Roman Catholic church for the ceremony. After a full mass and emotional ceremony, we took some photos of our newlyweds and their families inside the church. We wanted to continue the classic elegant theme of the day so we took Brittany and Dave to Monmouth University. The beautiful old architecture was the perfect backdrop for many romantic photos. Outdoor photos in winter can sometimes seem dull, but the starkness of our background lent an air of drama and intimacy for our lovely couple. Their reception was held at Clarks Landing Yacht Club where the night turned into one huge party. Our couple is huge fans of Brian Kirk and the Jirks so having them play at the reception was amazing. Dave’s father and aunt sang a duet with the band and Dave took the mic to surprise Brittany with a Billy Joel cover. The dancing and singing went on all night long. This wedding was an absolute blast to attend and shoot. We wish Brittany and Dave a lifetime of joy filled moments as sweet as the ones they experienced on their special day.
Once I decided to have my wedding in the winter, I immediately knew I wanted a warm, classic elegance. To me, winter meant sparkles, greenery and candlelight to create a romantic feel, but I also wanted it to be classic and timeless. We tried to incorporate gold and champagne tones (with lots of sparkle!) and greenery. We had a beautiful Catholic mass ceremony.
Our venue didn’t need too much decoration, but when I envisioned my perfect winter wedding, I knew I wanted lots of winter greenery, without being too holiday-ish. We incorporated ceder greenery with fresh white flowers where we could. We also added extra gold speckled votives to the tables to give them a warm glow, along with gold glittery table numbers, and simple, elegant champagne shimmer menu cards and table cards. At each plate was a sprig of cedar (cut from a tree in my front yard) to tie the winter look together. Our welcome sign was made out of a mirror that hung in my parents room all their lives, with hand lettering from my sister in law. The signature drink signs were made from mirrors that were my grandmothers. No one would have ever known that some of these items were built from some special items that belonged to those close to us.
We loved our winter floral arrangement, made with white garden roses, assorted white flowers, ruscus and cedar accents. The flowers were a perfect mix of classic and winter without being holiday-ish. We had a beautiful flower accent that decorated our welcome sign, and we also had a cedar garland decorate our head table. My bouquet was wrapped with the lace from my grandmother’s wedding gown, which was a really special touch. We also had flowers decorate our cake.
