From the bride…Sean proposed in front of the Rockefeller Christmas tree. He never plans anything so he was smart enough to let me plan a trip to visit my best friend and her boyfriend in Hoboken and then all of us would head to the city to see the tree. By the time we got to the tree it was late, probably around 11. It was an unseasonably warm day for the middle of December. There weren’t many people around since it was late, yet Sean still felt the need to try to have the cops clear an empty space in front of the tree for him. It took some time and at this point I knew something was up. As we were taking our picture, Sean got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. All of a sudden there were a ton of people around us clapping and cheering. My best friend got pictures of the whole thing. Sean and I basically grew up together so I always knew one day he would be the one. Everything was always so easy with Sean and I could be myself around him.

What was the design inspiration for your wedding? What was the color scheme?
We didn’t do too much of a theme or decorations for the reception. Anyone who has been in the Shadowbrook knows how gorgeous it is and we didn’t want to take anything away from that. We chose simple flowers, my stepfather hand made wooden table numbers, and we also brought in a lot of pictures for the entryway to make it feel more intimate.

What was your favorite memory of the day?
I think my favorite memory was the ceremony. Father Cullen did such a great job making it feel so special and personal. I really appreciated the time to sit and reflect on what the day was all about and to take it all in.

What flowers made up your bridal bouquet?
White hydrangea, roses, and greenery

What made you choose the Shadowbrook to host your reception?
We had looked at a few venues before heading to the Shadowbrook. I liked a few and was thinking I was going to have a hard time choosing one and then we walked into the Shadowbrook. From my first steps in, I was in love. I’ve always loved old houses, so of course I loved the charm of the mansion. They did such a great job of updating the space but still keeping the charm. Every time we called or visiting, Amy and Mark were wonderful. They were both so helpful and made all the planning so easy.
