You can never go wrong with a wedding that evokes a classic and ethereal style. A neutral color palette, clean lines, and just the perfect amount of personalized details. Katie and Mike’s wedding started with a traditional church ceremony, followed by a celebration amongst family and friends at the Orange Lawn Tennis Club. But one of our favorite parts? The 8-foot greenery wall that the groom and his father made for not only the escort card display, but for a photo booth backdrop, too! It’s truly such a statement-making reception decor piece and you’ll just have to see the photos Monica Mendoza Photography shared with us!
From Monica Mendoza Photography…Katie and Mike wanted their wedding to include personal details and lots of greenery with Ivory. The groom himself built a beautiful green backdrop for the guests place cards. One of the sweetest moments of the day was the first look with Katie’s dad and also their first dance. I still remember when Katie and Mike made their big entrance. The grounds of the Orange Lawn Tennis club provide a beautiful backdrop for sunset portraits.
I envisioned an ethereal, romantic feel for our wedding. Delicate & classic. We wanted the day to feel light, bright & airy. Our color palette consisted of classic ivory with neutrals and touches of pastel blue. Greenery was our most essential element throughout, which helped to provide texture & liveliness!
Our flowers were mostly made up of seeded eucalyptus, olive leaf, ivory cabbage roses & ranunculus. We utilized greenery everywhere we could, tastefully. From our flower girl’s olive leaf crown to the hanging ruscus on the chandeliers in our reception venue. We also created an 8ft high x 6ft wide greenery wall. We used this for our escort cards during cocktail hour (as photographed). Once all the cards were removed, the greenery wall doubled as the backdrop for our mirror photo booth during the reception. My now-husband & father-in-law handcrafted this & it definitely surpassed my original vision. Our guests loved it & we now keep the etched wood sign with our last name in our home!
When looking for dresses or hairstyles for my wedding day, the one word I envisioned remained constant: Romantic. I wore my hair in long, bouncy waves with an antique side barrett to add some sparkle. My gown was an A-line ball gown made by the whimsical Hayley Paige. It was important for me to still feel like myself & to be comfortable on my wedding day — so I styled this with sequin Keds by Kate Spade. My wedding jewelry was kept simple so that my dress (& myself!) remained the focus.
