From Tori Petrillo Photography…When Brittany mentioned that she and Ian were looking for a soft and romantic vibe for their engagement session, I suggested what I thought to be the perfect location! Cross Estate Garden is a hidden gem in Somerset County, tucked away on a winding road with overflowing English gardens and wide open fields. Pair that with golden hour and this sweet couple? Talk about a photographers dream! We started our session in one of the overflowing fields (where the golden hour light was absolutely incredible!) before making our way over to the peony-filled gardens. Brittany & Ian fully trusted my vision and were happy to hop into the field together — and I’m so glad they did! I loved watching them enjoy each other and have fun during their session.
We met at a New Year’s Eve party. His best friend was my old neighbor. After my neighbor moved away his family had a New Year’s party ever year that my family almost always went to. One year I had nothing to do on New Year’s, so I decided to go. The rest was history!
My aunt hosts a summer party for my family every year and my fiancé does baseball lessons. On the day of the summer party, my Ian told me that he had a baseball lesson right when the party was supposed to start, which he could not reschedule. I, of course, was so mad because I had being late to things. When he finally came home, we drove to my aunt’s house. When we got there, I noticed only one of my aunts and my sister in the house, which was super strange for my family because usually everyone is gathered in the kitchen helping. Ian ran to the backyard to “say hi” to everyone while my aunt and sister talked to me for a few moments. We started to walk outside and noticed my entire family staring at me with their phones in my face. After a few seconds, I saw Ian in the distance standing in the middle of a circle made with rocks, with rose petals leading the way. My sister handed me a bouquet and walked me towards Ian. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of my entire family! I later found out that he wanted to be late so my sisters could set up the rose petals and rocks and my aunt and sister pulled me aside to give him extra time to get into position.
