This adorable duo are high school sweethearts and have the cutest proposal story! “Josh proposed while we were decorating our Christmas tree at our home. He was putting the hooks on the Christmas ornaments and handing them to me and I was putting them on the tree. Next thing I knew I went to grab one and he handed me a hook with a ribbon and the beautiful ring on it. He then got down on his knee and proposed. I was shocked and honestly had no idea it was coming.” As for their wedding day? Well, they chose to wed at Knowlton Mansion boasting old-world grace with contemporary elegance, used a classic color palette of red and gray, and even tied in rustic touches! From Kerry McIntyre Photography…This, my friends, is what 12+ years of friendship and dating looks like. These kids met in 10th grade and FINALLY tied the knot. It’s one of those weddings where the bride and groom are wearing white and black converse so you just know it’s going to be a great time. I love what they did for their wedding day — a small, intimate ceremony with just immediate family and wedding party with a larger reception later on including extended family and friends. Knowlton Mansion is a fantastic location with it’s decorative interiors and a gorgeous accompanying landscape. Not to mention, there are horses on site. Needless to say, this venue has a lot to offer.
We had previously attended a wedding at the mansion and absolutely fell in love with the venue and all of the architecture. We did not have a specific theme, we had a modern style wedding. Our color palate consisted of a dark grey/slate grey and dark red. We did not include any specific cultural or religious traditions.
The florals were designed by Maryanne at Carousel flowers, they were not a huge part of our wedding. We did relatively small bouquets and centerpieces for the table. The flowers were all red with red roses and peonies.
We had close friends officiate and DJ our wedding. Instead of having a traditional father/daughter dance we had a mother/daughter dance between the bride and mom. That was one of my favorite parts of the wedding. My other favorite parts included the beautiful sunset that we had that night, shot-gunning beers with the bridal party, the popping champagne pictures, and the first look.
