Barn weddings in New Jersey have become increasingly popular over the last few years, and after scrolling through this gallery from Jennifer Larsen Photography, it’s easy to see why. From the charming elegance of the barn at Perona Farms to the outdoor ceremony, classic color scheme, lush florals, and vintage rentals, among much more, there’s so much to love about this romantic wedding. Each and every detail was well thought out and we’re sure you’re going to find many steal-worthy details below.
From Jennifer Larsen Photography…Maurade and Jason tied the knot at the barn at Perona Farms in Andover, New Jersey surrounded by friends and family. I loved photographing and being a part of their day. Maurade & Jason carefully planned every detail, and their day was nothing short of a dream! And I loved how they incorporated so many meaningful details. Maurade wore Jason’s grandmother’s bracelet, Jason’s tie had little elephants on it for good luck (and also because Maurade & Jason are honeymooning in Kenya and Zanzibar!), and the back of the ceremony card had a beautiful poem by E.E. Cummings in memory of Maurade’s father. The beautiful calligraphy pieces were created by a talented friend of Maurade’s, Julia Yu of Paper Soul. And the ceremony was officiated by Maurade’s brother, Ross, making it extra special and personal. From start to finish, their wedding day was incredible! And despite the rain in the forecast, the weather ended up holding out with only a short rain shower during cocktail hour. Maurade and Jason shared the sweetest first look in “the pines” area of Perona Farms, and it looked so whimsical! The outdoor ceremony next to the barn at Perona Farms was so beautiful, with the most stunning floral & fabric adorned arbor, build and decorated by Katelyn Triola. And the reception inside the barn was jaw-droppingly stunning with more beautiful florals, hanging greenery & edison lightbulbs, a polaroid camera for guests to add to the memories, and a stunning lounge set up by Dovetail Vintage Rentals. And to top it all off, the night ended with some surprise fireworks and s’mores roasting over a firepit. Talk about a perfect ending to a magical day.
How did you decide on Perona Farms as your venue?
We instantly fell in love with Perona Farms and ended up booking within three days of our engagement. The barn has an incredible presence as you walk in, but is still able to be personalized while maintaining its charm. I also appreciated that the barn included multiple bathrooms, cocktail area, air conditioning, and a kitchen! It just took a lot of the stress that can go along with planning a barn wedding, such as bringing in catering tents and bathrooms. Perona Farms made the whole process so simple which allowed me to be able to focus on the little details.
Can you share some insight into your vision for your wedding day and planning it, etc?
Jason and I both loved the idea of getting married in a barn and my vision was to bring an element of elegance to the barn, while keeping the theme simple and personal. The barn really speaks for itself, so I went with white flowers and lots of greenery to keep a neutral palate. The bridesmaids wore light grey dresses and the groomsmen wore cobalt blue to keep with the theme. I love the deconstructed look to flowers and Katelyn, our florist, went above and beyond my expectations with the most stunning arrangements and arbor for the ceremony. We rented an outdoor vintage lounge to put in front of the barn, which made for some great pictures and a fun area for guests to hang out. I also added a suspended ladder with hanging greenery and edison bulbs and then asked one of my good friends do the calligraphy. The escort cards were on top of a bed of moss and the place cards went with each napkin which had swig of rosemary tucked in them. Elephants are one of our favorite animals and we went on our honeymoon in Africa, so we personalized the ties with elephants (also, for good luck) and had a cake topper with two elephants holding the word “love” from their trunks.
What was each of your favorite part of the day?
Jason’s favorite part was the first look. Maurade talked about the wedding dress for over a year, and it was such a beautiful surprise to finally get to see her in the dress of her dreams. It made the whole thing feel real and was a great way to start the day. Maurade’s favorite part was taking photos with everyone before the ceremony. I had dreamt of those photos for over a year and it was just so much fun to be with Jason, our bridal and groom parties, family, and of course my adorable triplet flower girls and ring bearer. My other favorite part was when I was sitting next to Jason during dinner and just looking out at the venue. I was just in awe of everyone that had come from near and far to celebrate with us and just blown away by how everything had come together.
