Today we’re heading to the south for a charming and intimate wedding. It’s elegant, romantic, and filled with the perfect amount of details that make everything about this wedding effortlessly chic. Not to mention, this bride walks down the aisle in a lovely lace halter gown and then changes into a classic sheath dress for the reception and sparkler exit. Take a peek at the gallery captured by Krisandra Evans Photography below, and be sure to take note of the copper ceremony arch, which happens to be one of our favorite decor pieces from this wedding!
From Krisandra Evans Photography…Zane and Kaityln met at his grandmother’s house when they were kids. Zane proposed to on April 21, 2017 after 15 years of friendship. They were having lunch near the water in Beaufort, SC. He and the Geico Skytypers coordinated for “Will you marry me, Kaitlyn?” to be typed over the water. In addition, Zane’s mother died of breast cancer when he was only 2, and he used the diamond from her engagement ring to propose with.
Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
Zane and I didn’t a specific theme, but we knew we didn’t want “flashy.” I guess you could say that our taste was pretty simple. Our venue was a historic buildings, and we loved the brick and hardwood floors. We used gold and wine accents, and simple floral arrangements throughout.
What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
Going along with our simplicity theme, I decided to use heavy greenery and only white garden roses throughout.
Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
We did a lot of personalization throughout. One of our favorite parts was choosing the music. I am a huge Taylor Swift fan, so I walked down the aisle to the piano version of Love Story. Growing up, Zane and I saw all of the Shrek movies together, so we walked out of the ceremony to I’m a Believer by Smashmouth. Zane is a huge UFC fan, and the announcer, Bruce Buffer, recorded a custom reception introduction for us. Our last name is Cowman, so we really wanted to embrace it. Zane and his groomsmen had cow patterned socks, and our hashtag was #HolyCowman. Zane and I chose our favorite foods to be a part of our menu. They didn’t exactly go together, but it was what we wanted. Macaroni & Cheese, assortment of sliders, chicken and waffles, etc. were our food options!
What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
There were a lot of special moments throughout the day. Zane and I spent a long time writing our vows. We wanted them to be personal and meaningful. We tried to remember that all of the other parts of the day were really just background noise, and we were really there to say these vows. Also, soon after getting engaged, we decided that we wanted to take dance lessons, so our first dance was also something to look forward to. An unanticipated moment was actually one of my favorites from the whole day. As mentioned before, Zane’s biological mother died when he was very young. Zane’s grandmother made my garter out of her wedding dress, and wrote such a special note for me. As a bride, it meant more than she, or anyone, will ever know.
