With a focus on the immaculate grounds (both inside and out), guests were able to appreciate all the beauty The Ashford Estate has to offer, which was exactly what the bride had in mind when planning her wedding day. Amanda and Ed exchanged vows outdoors under a gazebo with sprawling views. They had their first look and took portraits throughout the facility, and guests danced and dined in the grand ballroom that seamlessly brought the European countryside inside under the wood arches,  glass windows, and crystal chandeliers. Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
Our venue, the Ashford Estate, is the most stunning place inside and out on a normal day, so I really wanted to focus less on big details and more on our guests appreciating the Ashford’s beauty as much as we do. I did not have a set theme or inspiration, but my idea was just for the day to look and feel like a fairytale, which it very much did. I used a lot of pink and gold in our details such as the name cards and in our floral arrangements.

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
Going wedding dress shopping for the first time, I had a totally different mindset of what I was going for. I wanted a lace top, open back and a train. Being top heavy, I wanted something that was not too revealing but still flattering. I was so focused on finding something to “keep the girls in”, I never would’ve expected to end up in a strapless dress. It was surprisingly a lot lighter than a lot of the dresses that had straps and I thought for a hot day the lighter the better. I originally had a headpiece picked out but after debating hair styles decided against wearing it. The men’s look was much easier, and we actually didn’t get to see the final look until the day before so thankfully it all came together exactly as I envisioned.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
There were a few items that I did DIY that I was very proud of. Our table numbers were stained wooden plaques that I had attached spray painted gold numbers to. I made a directional sign of all of our real and fictional favorite places, and places our guests had traveled from which was a nice touch to acknowledge who went out of their way to be present. I also, with the help of my husband, made a pallet wall and hung a collage of different frames which had special pictures mixed amongst framed table seating lists. I had added a few informational frames here and there to say who was assigned to what room and the shuttle schedule. Our flowers really stole the show which looked gorgeous on the floating gazebo and through the venue.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
I think our flowers were the link that tied everything together. The bouquets differed slightly than the centerpieces and ceremony backdrop but for the most part were shades of pink mixed with periwinkle. I didn’t want bouquets that were perfectly symmetrical, I wanted them to still have a wildflower look to them and Reynolds did a perfect job at displaying that. I was nervous having mixed bridemaids dress colors but the flowers really brought all the colors together.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
We had pizza delivered at the end of the night, and bagels/muffins in the morning which both our guests were very excited about. My favorite part was honestly just everyone having fun and having so many different parts of our families under one roof to celebrate together.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
I was extremely excited to spend the day at the Ashford and have it to ourselves. It’s truly hard to leave the next day with how beautiful it is, how accommodating and welcoming the staff was and not to mention the gorgeous rooms we got to stay in. We both have such large families that are rarely together so to have everyone together in such good spirits for the entire day was just really amazing.
