From the bride…Marc Proposed in New York City at the Rockefeller Center on December 6th 2015. It’s our thing we do every year around Christmas time. We go and see the tree and take a picture. But this year he wanted to take a professional picture since Kodak was set up out there and he knows just how much I love taking pictures with him. It couldn’t have been more perfect. I was picking our pose for the picture in line but he had something else up his sleeve. (I only know this from what he told me but the other couple that we had went with, he had asked him to record while we were up there and friend had NO idea what was going on.) After we took our picture, I was fixing my earring that got caught on my scarf for the next picture and noticed he was digging in his pocket. For two seconds I thought to myself why would he be joking around like he’s going to propose in front of tons of people not a funny joke with people around. And he gets down on one knee, and pulls out a little white box. I was in SUCH SHOCK it was UNREAL. I had on half gloves that didn’t cover my fingers which worked was perfect. The next thing I know is I hear his moms voice from far saying “HELLLLOO” I look over and I see my parents and his parents. I started crying and of course said yes. He had surprised me with our family being there .. had them get on a train earlier than us .. and hide near where we would be going to take pictures. I cant believe he pulled it off! It was so magical!
We decided to do a first look because we wanted that moment with each other just one on one to be able to talk to each other, hug & kiss, giggle & stuff , and just spend some time with each other before we didn’t get that moment for the rest of the day without everyone else around. We also loved the idea of getting pictures out of the way because we didn’t want to be taken away from our cocktail hour …The way we looked at it is we paid for cocktail hour we would like to be able to enjoy it as well.
My wedding flowers were shades of white and greenery, some bling pins in there as well the bouquet was not too big because I didn’t want it to be heavy and not too small. It was wrapped with a piece of my wedding dress that we had extra material. The colors of the blue and green were nice and soft and I love them.
Our wedding ceremony was held outside of the Sterling Ballroom. From the moment we looked at the venue we fell in love with the outside, how pretty it was and how the greenery just looked amazing. We decided on this location to host our wedding reception for a number of things! A few reasons to start was they had one wedding at a time, which to us was a big deal to us. We didn’t like the fact that other vendors hosted 2 weddings at once. It was right off the parkway which was nice and easy, and it was close to just about everyone. We loved the ballroom, oh my gosh it is beautiful. The décor that the ballroom had already came with was a plus, the chandeliers were just beautiful and of course one of the most important things to us was the dance floor was HUGE! We also picked it because the ceremony area was beautiful as well. So it was everything that we had wanted, a beautiful inside, beautiful outside and it was a hotel, which we knew would be nice and easy for both Marc and I and even the guest that wanted to stay over night. The staff that we met with that day was wonderful, I cant tell you how many times we went back to this place before we actually booked and made a deposit. Any time I ever wanted to come in and try out my own décor with the ballroom they never had a problem, and all my millions of questions always got answered. Couldn’t of asked for anything better from the sterling ballroom.
Marc will probably say the same thing even before he sees my answer for the fact that we always said that the best advice we would ever give another couple is to have a long engagement. It’s so much fun, there’s no rush, and it’s a once in a life time thing that you never get back. You’re only a bride and groom once. Why not get the most out of it and enjoy every second of it! It’s also not as stressful because you are not on a crazy time limit, and you learn so much more about your partner. We truly miss the process and if we could do it all over again we would do it the same way!
