A RUSTIC RAINY DAY WEDDING AT THE HAMILTON MANOR BY NIKKI AND CHIP PHOTOGRAPHY

After getting engaged in August 2020, Anna and David knew that booking a date would be difficult, so they jumped on May 6, 2022 and began planning their rustic-meets-modern wedding at The Hamilton Manor. Despite the couple’s anticipation and plans to utilize the outdoor spaces of the venue, Mother Nature had another idea in store: RAIN. Not just a drizzle or a shower, but torrential downpours all day. To say Anna and David were bummed was an understatement, but they made the most of the situation that was out of their control. “It was still the most fun I ever had surrounded by every single person I love. I was surprised that all the details that I thought I cared about the most did not matter at all to me the day of the wedding,” Anna mentioned. Continue reading below to see how this duo didn’t let rain ruin their best day ever!

From Anna…Dave and I met in the fall of 2015. We met playing on a coed softball team through mutual friends. I was dating someone at the time and did not give much thought about Dave. It was not until the following summer that we began actually speaking to one another! I had a bunch of my friends down at the beach, and he was able to come along. Immediately I realized that he wasn’t like all the other guys I have ever dated before, and I was very curious to get to know him better. Our love is truly the friends turned lovers’ type of journey.

A little rain didn’t stop Nikki & Chip Photography from working their creative magic to ensure Anna and David received photos they loved. The clear bubble umbrellas not only kept the couple as dry as possible during outdoor portraits, but made great props too! “Worrying about good photos was the least of my concerns because I knew Nikki & Chip would ace them!” the couple raved. Anna slipped on hunter-green rain boots to brave the rain, which coordinated beautifully to her hand-tied bouquet incorporating white blooms and mixed greens. She radiated in an A-line JLM Couture gown featuring an asymmetrical pattern petal detailing throughout. The groom looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo with peak lapels, silver cuff links (gifted by the bride) and watch, black bow tie, and a white pocket square.

With their man of honor and best woman standing by their sides, the couple were married by Anna’s father during a heartfelt ceremony, and they were ready to celebrate immediately after.

The reception took place in the barn, decorated with low centerpieces and romantic candlelight. Anna and David incorporated frosted acrylic signage and personalized details through signature drinks, framed engagement photos, and a custom cake topper. They even included their dog, who was positioned on the bottom tier to appear like he was eating the cake.

Now that the wedding is over, Anna and David are enjoying date nights–including learning to cook new recipes together–and looking forward to starting a family in the future.
