AN INTIMATE MICRO BACKYARD WEDDING BY VANESSA JOY PHOTOGRAPHY

You might recognize this beautiful bride as the face behind Jaye Kogut Photography, but this time Jaye’s here sharing all the beautiful details from her backyard wedding! Like most couples, Jaye and Rob–who initially met during architecture class in high school–were forced to pivot their initial plans due to the uncertainty of covid and ultimately decided on an intimate backyard wedding amongst their nearest and dearest. Take a peek at this insanely gorgeous gallery captured through the lens of Vanessa Joy Photography.

Jaye and Robert love fall, so it was a no-brainer to use the coziest season of the year as the muse for their backyard wedding using hues of mauve, mustard, and olive green. Danielle of Magnolia West Events even incorporated unique aspects of the couple’s relationship, including flannel (Jaye’s favorite!) and deer antlers that Robert and his dad acquired from hunting trips.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Jaye and Robert decided to move forward with a micro wedding, held in Rob’s sister’s backyard, with their closest family and bridal party. Their dog, BoBo, was even in attendance. At the altar was a custom pergola built by the groom and decorated in bohemian-style florals, including roses, eucalyptus, hydrangea, leaves, and jewel-toned Amaranthus. Wood chairs flanked each side of the aisle, while pashminas hung on the backs of some chairs in case guests got cold.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the outside tent for a celebration under the stars. Greenery-embellished chandeliers and suspended lights served as a focal point, while romantic lighting continued on the farmhouse-style tables adorned with seeded eucalyptus, pumpkins, and gold silverware. The yard also served as a laid-back lounge area with ottomans placed throughout with textured pillows and fleece throw blankets.

The newlyweds sat at one of the prettiest sweetheart tables complete with a settee chair, various gold votive candles, lanterns, pumpkins, and fall foliage. Guests dined al fresco and enjoyed Italian cuisine including eggplant rollatini, chicken francaise, and penne vodka. And what’s a celebration without capping off the night on a sweet note?! The three-tier vanilla funfetti wedding cake had buttercream filling and frosting.
