A SPRING BALLROOM WEDDING AT THE PARK SAVOY ESTATE BY LAUREN SPINELLI PHOTOGRAPHY
Amy and Erik attended the same high school, but didn’t officially meet until years later through the help of a mutual friend. The two were immediately attracted to each other’s humor and charm. On Friday, December 15, 2017, they were supposed to have dinner with Erik’s parents, but Amy was working a little bit later than usual and hit every obstacle possible getting home, including a December snowstorm. Erik remained calm and patient awaiting her arrival, and Amy was so happy to finally get home—so much so, that she failed to notice the dim lights, rose petals in the hallway, champagne, and fully burnt-down candles that had been lit for hours. “It took me a while to realize Erik was standing in front of me with a ring. After the proposal, we went to a nearby Italian restaurant where both of our families were waiting to celebrate, and then we went to a local boutique hotel that Erik had booked them a room for the night.”
For the nuptials, the duo decided on the month of April for its mild weather and used the elegance of orchids as inspiration for their spring soiree. From Lauren Spinelli Photography…Amy and Erik did their event design ENTIRELY on their own. Amy’s favorite flower is an Orchid, so her florist at Strange Vine Studio curated a stunning waterfall orchid bouquet that matched perfectly with the fresh, pink spring blooms outside. The reception was lit with elegant, minimalistic (and insanely chic) long tables with orchids and flowers scattered down the tables.
Amy’s aunt gave her an embroidered piece of her grandmother’s wedding dress before the wedding, which represented her something old. “My grandmother passed a few months earlier, so this was extremely sentimental and allowed me to take a minute to reflect on the wonderful memories I have,” the bride shared.
“I cannot say enough about The Park Savoy Estate. The venue speaks for itself. The first thing that stood out was its grandeur and elegance; the second was the staff. You can just tell everyone who works there is passionate about what they do and knows exactly what you’ll need to make your wedding day the best ever,” the bride raved.
Amy and Erik initially had planned on exchanging vows inside, but with an unseasonably warm day, they decided last minute to have their ceremony outside. Amy walked down the aisle wearing a sweetheart strapless, beaded lace Kitty Chen gown accessorized with a gold shoulder necklace, while the groom sported a black-accented burgundy tuxedo.
Inside the ballroom, orchids displayed in tall, cylinder vases, along with ranunculus bud vases and candlelight, topped each table. Each place setting was complete with a classic white charger and folded napkin with menu card placed inside. The newlyweds just wanted to have fun for their first dance, so they selected a song that represented their feelings for each other, but was still upbeat enough to dance to. They chose to dance to “Just the Two of Us” by Grover Washington Jr. with Bill Withers and had guests join in halfway through the song.
