From Sophisticated Weddings…Villa Astor, clinging to the cliffs of the famous Sorrentine Peninsular has undoubtedly one of the best views in the world and boasts an unrivalled splendour with its gardens having been voted as one of the 10 most beautiful in Italy. The villa and its estate offer one of the greatest 20th century collections of classical and Renaissance antiquities and are home to over 150 historical pieces that have been given special protection by Italy’s Ministry of Culture.
I fell in love with the Villa the first time I saw it and was immediately inspired with so many ideas on what could work beautifully when creating there an intimate, yet magnificent, destination wedding. Having found ourselves in uncharted waters due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have seen in recent months, couples are now looking for more intimate settings but without compromising on the grandeur of their special day. Therefore, this incredible neo-Classical villa was the perfect choice to bring my ideas to life; inspiration for brides and grooms of better times ahead.
Our styled wedding shoot took place on a beautiful summer day in Sorrento. The very talented Gabriele Malagoli and his team arrived early, eager to capture all of the details. The soft, natural light and stunning scenery ensured that final result was simply breath-taking.
To complement the Villa’s great splendour, we set out to create a ‘timeless elegance’ mood to our styled shoot which featured the most beautiful Galia Lahav regal, guipure mermaid gown ‘Lindsay’ from GV’s new collection, together with ivory ribbon tie lace embroidered booties from Bella Belle USA. Hair and makeup was delicate and perfectly put together by the Beauty Livery team and the jewellery was provided by Taya Gioielli. To complete our couple’s elegant look, Banderari sent a refined and exquisitely-tailored tux and accessories with the groom’s stylish shoes, handmade in Italy from Francesco Massarelli.
Our tablescapes and ceremony detailing were in harmony with natural beauty of the Villa and exquisitely designed by Giovanni Castellano, Floral Designer, featuring a delicate mix of white delphinium, eucalyptus, cineraria, English roses, scabiosa and dried flowers. The welcome sign, table plan, elegant menus and place cards were designed and supplied by Lilac & White. We hope that despite this difficult year, brides-to-be are inspired to dream about a romantic, timeless wedding in an incredible location such as Villa Astor in Sorrento, Italy.
